Dr Martin Luther King is his role model. Like King, Dr Kenneth Adkins, 56, is also a preacher and a political activist. But the similarity ends there. Adkins is on the verge of being indicted on child molestation charges by Florida county grand jury. In fact, he is in jail since August 26th. His charges are that he had sex with a 15-year-old boy parishioner in the church premises.
Jump Bail?
His intention to jump bond has weakened his position. He is likely to face a life sentence even. But is Kenneth Adkins is a political scape goat? The question is reverberating in the religious and political areas. The jury is not convinced of his argument or intention. And his telephonic conversations from the jail, running few hours is going to be against him. He even commanded his other friend to prompt the victim to the advantage of Kenneth. According to the jury, this amounts to obstruction of justice.
Appeals
There will be an appeal against the Jury’s remark as well as a request for speedy trial. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is all out in nailing him- two cases of child molestation. The victim, now 21, is all out to nail Kenneth as well. It is yet to be seen whether the juvenile law will be applicable. The church where Kenneth was pastoring seems to be not inclined to support him in this grave case of child molestation.
Political Vendetta?
Perhaps Kenneth was framed for his anti-gay comments? His tweet justifying the shooting in the Florida Gay club was controversial. He even urged the Gay community to come to Jesus for salvation. Kenneth was also against the local Jacksonville Gays who were pushing for the implementation of the human right ordinance. Mrs Charlotte Adkins said that her husband is innocent and the victim was a troubled young man who needed psychological counselling.
